BOW WOW  (JAP)

Sunday July 7

Bow Wow may be the name of a rapper, but it's clearly not him who is booked for Time To Rock, but the legendary Japanese hard rock band from the 70s of the same name. The band was formed in 1975 and after nine studio albums, the group chose to aim for a little more mainstream rock and then changed their name to Vow Wow. The reason for the name change is said to have been to avoid confusion with the British pop band Bow Wow Wow. The group was called Vow Wow until 1990 when it disbanded. Kyoji Yamamoto who had been on the train since the beginning reunited the band under the name Bow Wow in 1995, then with completely new members. In 1998, two of the classic members joined, one was guitarist Mitsuhiro Saito, who had left the group at the time of the name change. Today they have Shinji Matsumoto (bass) and Matsanori Koyanagi (drums) on stage. The latest release was made in the form of the EP "King or Queen" in 2014, but with nine full-lengths from the first period, four from the latter and possibly something from the Vow Wow era, there should be plenty of good songs to fill the setlist with during this summer's Knislinge concert.
