On February 6th 2011 the world lost one of, if not THE best, guitar players of all times. Born in Belfast, Gary Moore moved to Dublin in 1968 and joined the Irish blues rock band Skid Row where a certain Philip Lynott was one of the members. He then collaborated with Lynott through the years and jumped in as guitar player in Thin Lizzy several times, most notable as an official member on the epic album "Black Rose" from 1979.
But it is of course as a solo artist we all know him. With groundbreaking albums like "Corridors of Power", "Victims of the Future", "Run for Cover", "Wild Frontier" and "After the War", among others, he cemented his place in the hard rock hall of fame both as a fantastic song writer and of course as one of the most iconic guitar players of all times.
In 1990 he decided that he wanted to try something new and released the album "Still Got the Blues". Gone were the hard rock songs and for ten years he showed the world that he also was a world class blues man with memorable albums like "Still Got the Blues", "After Hours", "Blues for Greeny" among many others. During that period he collaborated with some of blues biggest legends like Albert King, Albert Collins, George Harrison and B.B King, just to name a few, to show how much respect Gary Moore had in the music business.
In 2010 he started to work on what was supposed to be a new "hard rock" album and played a few gigs where he performed songs from his back catalogue of rock. And the crowd loved it. He even performed a few new songs that ended up on the live album "Live at Montreux 2010".
But as you all know, Gary Moore died in February 2011, leaving a big void for all his fans all over the world. He was only 58. A tragic loss for us all, and for his family in particular.
In 2026 it will be 15 years and we came up with this idea...
So at Time To Rock 2026, we will celebrate the life and music of Gary Moore. A unique show that you don't want to miss. The band will consist of Gary's son Jack Moore on guitar. The other guitar will be handled by our Swedish guitar wizz Tommy Johansson (Majestica, ex Sabaton etc), who will also be the lead singer. Gary's long time keyboard player Vic Martin will handle the ebony's and the ivory's. On the drums you will find Marcus Johansson (Reach) and on bass Soufian Ma'Aoui (Reach)
There will also be some prominent guests. One of them is Gary's other son, Gus Moore on vocals. More guests will be announced.
So we hope that you will join us at Time To Rock Festival in Knislinge, Sweden, next summer, for this unique event that will take us all down memory lane and once again hear the thundering drums in "Over the Hills and Far Away" among other timeless songs, penned by Gary Moore.
